Her “Try Me” single went viral as an indie and it was a no-brainer for the Sony Music family. Dej Loaf’s highly animated style made for a surprising twist, as even her label mate T.I. assumed her to be a man. There has not been a woman merge into the industry with a street anthem in ages.
