Dear Creatively Driven,

It has been a while since I’ve written to you but life has been a whirlwind. Every morning I hit the ground running, take a nap and do it all over again. My career in entertainment is an adventure; no two days are the same. I’ve always been a bit of an extremist (black or white please, no grey) but even I’m dazed by reality from time to time.  No complaints, this is what I packed up my steady Virginia life for.  I never imagined the two suitcases I came to New York with would’ve evolved so fast.

I recall being at the Grammy Brunch thinking, “Is this real”? The aerialist performing were spinning just like my head. I hadn’t slept for a few days by time I closed the guest list and left to the venue. Success is not a fairytale you definitely have to put the work in. Hopping off flights straight into the fire is not for everyone but I can’t think of anything I love more than music. The energy, the power music has to heal, the way it transcends you to a specific memory; I’ve always been connected to it in an all-consuming way. Music brings people together who ordinarily sit on opposite sides of the room.  Above all, this entertainment journey has taught me to never allow anyone to tell me what I can’t do.

Before I arrived to New York there were far more people who hurt me than helped me. I did not understand God’s purpose with certain obstacles but I’m proud of  who they made me. I appreciate my struggle because now nothing will break me. Some people love to make other’s feel small, out of fear they will manifest in their own light. There is no dignity in obliging those people or making yourself insignificant. God gave me gifts and I intend to use all of them. I look forward to sharing more of my diary with you. The images soon to come are merely a glimpse of who I am.  Until next time Creatively Driven… passion and blessings!

Sincerely,

B. Alysse
