1FAUX REAL: For designer Angela Simmons, daughter of Joseph Simmons (better known as Reverend Run of RUN-D.M.C.) and niece of Russell, an entrepreneurial spirit clearly runs in the genes. Tonight, the 27-year old will launch her own line of faux fur clothing and accessories — called Foofi, named after her beloved toy poodle — with a presentation at Manhattan’s Gansevoort Hotel. (No stranger to the fashion business, Simmons also launched a line of footwear called Pastry with her older sister Victoria back in 2011.)2

A look from Foofi. The 23-piece collection includes outerwear, vests, hoodies and accessories made from acrylic and polyester faux fur blends sourced in China. Done in a colorful palette and finished with a floral-printed lining, the pieces range from $150 to $495 and will be sold primarily through e-commerce. Simmons, a vegetarian and PETA supporter, said she stopped wearing fur years ago after researching the way animals were treated. “It’s for the New York City girl on-the-go; chic but playful and fun,” she said. “Something that can bring you to work, play, evening. My mother could wear it, going down to my younger sister… I made sure there was something for everybody.”
