She cleaned her face and realized he wouldn’t ask, “why are the blinds shut whenever you’re alone”? She wouldn’t stare at him blankly because she couldn’t articulate the numbness.  The day did not feel overwhelming dark. An epiphany. The courage within her is greater than any harpoon zeroed in on her dreams.

Wherever the politics  gnawed at her spirit could not reach for her ambition. Evolution required crawling prior to running and today she looked up. She placed 1 foot in front of the other and walked. Walked faster towards the same fire she was thrown from. She is not “just happy to be here” and will not wait . There is only now. here. today.
